Randy DeJonge Obituary

Randel L. DeJonge, the son of Delores A. (Schnuerle) and Harold E. DeJonge, was born May 25, 1955 at Franklin, Nebraska. He departed this life on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Franklin Care & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Randy, or Hoop as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a lifelong resident of the area. He received his formal education attending the Bloomington school through the third grade and completed school at Hildreth where he graduated with the class of 1973. Randy then began pursuing his life's work farming and raising livestock. Randy was united in marriage with Linda Cline in 1977 at Franklin, Nebraska and this union was blessed with a son, Kendall. The marriage ended in divorce in 1983.  On November 4, 2001, Randy was married to Jody Wagoner and to this union two children were born, Mercedes and Isaac.

Randy was actively involved in his community throughout his life. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Macon Lions Club, and he had served as president of the Zion Lutheran Church council.  His personality was pervaded by his genuine concern and care for the people around him. He never hesitated to mentor young farmers in the area and was willing to share his knowledge and assistance whenever called upon. In his leisure time he enjoyed collected toy tractors, having coffee with his friends, attending tractor pulls and working the livestock. His greatest love and enthusiasm in life was always for his family and friends. Hoop was happiest when he was supporting and following his children's many activities. Following the deaths of his brother and sister-in-law, Randy dedicated himself to supporting his three nieces, Amy, Tina and Kara. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Patti DeJonge.

Left to treasure his memory are his children, Kendall DeJonge and wife Katy of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Mercedes DeJonge and Isaac DeJonge of Franklin, Nebraska; his sisters and brothers, Jean Meyer and husband, Jim, of Grand Island, Nebraska; Lonnie DeJonge and wife, Nicole, of Holdrege, Nebraska; Linda Kloos and husband, Dave, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Donnie DeJonge and wife, Connie, of Kearney, Nebraska; other relatives and his many friends.
