Ruth Elizabeth Hobelman

Ruth Elizabeth Topliff Hobelman was born at an early age to Henry N. and Leona A (Birdsell) Topliff in Colin Township Jewell Co. Kansas on October 19,1924, On November 24, 2020 with the wind at her back, a skip in her step and a song on her lips Ruth went Home for the holidays at the age of 96. 

January 4 1946 Ruth married the dashing Emery D. Hobelman at Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, NE.  Into this union 5 girls were born, Mary, Betty, Patti, Peggy and Pam.

In her youth Ruth stayed busy attending Sinclair Rural School in Lovewell, Kansas, chores on the family farm and active in White Rock Valley 4-H. 

Ruth worked outside the home most of her married life but still managed to sew most of her and her daughters' clothing.  Ruth was active in teaching Sunday School, Toastmasters, Lovewell Library Club, Webber Homemakers, played the kazoo in the Webber Kitchen Band and sang duets at Weddings and Funerals.  On Sunday afternoons you would find her on the sofa reading the paper until the paper was flat on her face and you could hear her softly snoring.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Emery, daughter Betty Hobelman, grandson, Jon Erickson, her siblings and their spouses, Lewis and Minnie Topliff, MaryLou and Charles Swanson, Donna and Ray Clark. and a nephew Chris Swanson.

She leaves to carry on her lightheartedness daughters Mary Shrontz, Patti (Bill) Vice, Peggy (Kurt) Saathoff and Pam Sandman.  10 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Memorial graveside services will be held this Saturday 1:00 pm May 29, 2021 at the Fairview Cemetery, near Webber, KS.  Pastor Robert Hopkins will be officiating.  Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
