Stephen R. Deisley

Stephen R. Deisley, the son of Virgil L. and Evelyn (Morningstar) Deisley, was born September 24, 1966, at Hastings, Nebraska. Following a lengthy illness, he departed this life on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Red Cloud. Nebraska at the age of 57 years, 1 month and 7 days.

Steve spent his early childhood years growing up in Colorado in the Denver and Brighton communities. In his late teen years, Steve moved to Grand Island with his family where he worked at Fonner Park assisting the trainers with the thoroughbred horses. He later returned to the Denver area where he attended the Denver Art School to pursue his gift and passion as an artist. This was a love he continued to develop and share throughout his life.

On June 30, 1990, he was united in marriage with Debra Ann Guerrette. At the same time Steve welcomed and embraced into his life her two sons, Andrew and Joseph. They made their home in Aurora, Colorado until later moved to Grand Island where their children, Lauren and Jacob were born. Steve was employed for many years as the Auto Service Manager with Wal-Mart. In 1999, they moved to the Wolbach community to make their home. His wife, Debra, died on October 18, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Virgil.

Left to treasure his memory are his children, Andrew Deisley of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Joseph Boucher and wife, Sulma, of Grand Island; Lauren Schillinger and husband, Dan, of Central City, Nebraska; and Jacob Deisley and wife Gloria Flores of Salem, Oregon. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews; sisters, Jennine Schneider and husband, Richard, of Red Cloud, Nebraska, and Jennifer Deisley Cottrell and Jon Torgerson of Aurora, Colorado, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, 2:30 pm, November 6, 2023, at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dan Benedict officiating. Interment will be at the Red Cloud Cemetery.
