Steven Claycamp Obituary

Steven E. Claycamp was born May 18, 1954, in Belleville, Kansas to Everett and Marlene (Lautenschlager) Claycamp. He departed this life on January 22, 2022, at CHI St. Elizabeth Health Care in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Steve grew up all over Kansas, in 1964 the family moved to Edgar, NE and their roots were planted.  He attended the Edgar School and at the age of 16 he had decided he had learned all he could from books and went out to experience and learn from life firsthand.  He traveled to New Orleans, Ohio, Florida, Nashville, and various other places.  He returned to the central part of the country and traveled with a company that painted schools, hotels, auditoriums, even a fire station down in Manhattan, KS.  Steve farmed for local farmers, driving truck over the years; as well, hauling groceries, grain, etc.  He had been employed with Deweese Sand and Gravel for the last 20 plus years.

In 1978 Steve married Gaila Skinner and to the union two sons were born: Allen and Adam.

Steve was a jack of all trades and always a jokester.  He was always doing something. He enjoyed putting things together, cutting a load of wood with his sons, fishing, camping, boating, playing the guitar and singing, having a few cows down at “the lot”, gardening, and mowing, but he was especially good at helping out others. When there was someone in need, he helped do whatever he could.  Steve loved his family and friends and spending time with them.

He is preceded in death by his father Everett, two brothers-in-law Curt Johnson and John Sanders, his grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons: Allen Claycamp and wife Dama; Adam Claycamp and wife Gena all of Edgar, NE; mother Marlene Claycamp of Edgar, NE; companion Pam Riley of Norton, KS; James Riley; sisters: Chris Kenley and husband Dick; Tammy Johnson, Brenda Sanders; Julie Rumsey; Susan Kuta and husband Fred; brother Scott Claycamp; grandchildren: Tayler, Jaden, Brynn, Ali, Brady; Will, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday 11:00 am January 27, 2022, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE.  Pastor David King will be officiating.  Burial will be held in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE. Visitation wil be held on Wednesday from 11 am to 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.  Williams Funeral Home of Edgar, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
