Ted Delka Obituary

Ted Edwin Delka was born September 1st 1939, the 3rd child to Harold and Olive (Smith) Delka. Ted grew up going to country school south of Red Cloud and later in Nuckolls County.  He went to work as a very young man for Clint Warnecke.  He lived with Clint and Minnie for a time and learned a great deal about farming and caring for livestock from Clint.

In October of 1956 he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Japan and Korea.  After his honorable discharge from the Army in November of 1959 he returned to Nebraska and on February 1st 1960, he married the love of his life Myrtie (Bailey). He worked iron for several years and then decided to do what he really loved and bought the farm west of Guide Rock.  He had several different jobs while farming which included proudly serving as a Webster County Commissioner for 2 terms from 1986-1994.  He also was a school bus driver and in later years was a ditch rider for Bostwick Irrigation District.

He was happiest on the farm doing what he loved.  And when the family gathered, he shined.  He loved his family and took great joy in planning a family gathering.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Myrtie; his brothers Neil, Don, and Billie; sister-in-laws Diane Delka, Judy Bailey, and Bobbie Bailey; brother-in-laws Ward Bailey, Jerry Bailey and Melvin Bracken.

Left to treasure his memory are his children Ted (Arla) Delka Jr. of Guide Rock, NE, Edie (Mitch) Watson of Red Cloud, NE and Leo (Lisa) Delka of Doniphan, NE.  Brothers Frank (Connie), Raymond (Lee), Dale, Joe (JoAnne) and sisters, Elaine (Larry) Betty (Dale) and Doris.  Seven Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, sister-in-law, Arlene Delka and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial services were Saturday, 11:00 am, December 17, 2022, at the Guide Rock Gymnasium with Pastor Matt Ehlers officiating.  Interment will be at a later date at the Bostwick Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
