Ted Arden Morrow, the son of Athel (Mitchell) and Arley, was born September 13, 1946, at Guide Rock, Nebraska. He departed this life on Monday, February 8, 2021 as the result of a two-vehicle accident south of Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Ted was affectionately know as Lucky by his family and friends. His nickname derived from his date of birth jon February the 13th. He received his formal education at various country schools, including the now defunct Rosemont and Eckley schools, and graduated from the Blue Hill High Schools with the class of 1964. He was employed for a period of time with the land conservation service and then with Western Land Roller, now FlowServ of Hastings. He retired in 2014, after working for several years in the tool crib at FlowServ.
In his leisure time, Lucky enjoyed hunting and the company of his dogs, having had nearly a dozen - he was a “sucker” for any stray dog needing a home. Lucky was also an avid gun collector, and enjoyed the acquisition of them.
Making his daily trips to his job in Hastings, he developed many friends at his usual stops, including the CPI/Cenex gas station in Blue Hill. Lucky was quick to quietly help others in need, and was especially conscientious to donate to organizations supplying needed items for children and animal shelters in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Athel and Arley Morrow, his grandparents Sadie Mitchell, and Elma and Arby Morrow of Esbon, Kansas, his mother’s three brothers, Arden V., John and Ernest Dallen Mitchell, his father’s three sisters, Audrey, Clarice and Hazel Morrow.
Left to treasure his memory are his sister, Sandra Larkey and her husband Dave of Guide Rock, Nebraska, and cousins and friends.
A memorial service were at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud on Tuesday, 2:00 pm, February 16, 2021 with Rev. Bonnie McCord officiating.
His ashes will be taken to Voyagers National Park in Minnesota and scattered. His sister said, “He loved house-boating up there and wanted to get back; if this is the only way he can do it, I will make sure he does.”
In lieu of flowers, his sister requests donations be made to B.A.C.O.N. Animal Rescue in Cowles, or Start Over Rover in Hastings, Nebraska.
