Virginia Ann Blecha the daughter of Albert and Hattie (Wilkerson) Blecha was born August 15, 1928 in Benkelman, Nebraska. She departed this life on Sunday January 24, 2021 at the Superior Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 92 years.
Virginia graduated from St. Mary’s Nursing College in Omaha, Nebraska in 1950. Virginia never married, she spent several years in Franklin, NE as the head nurse. Virginia later went to become a Nurse Anesthetist. A highlight in her career was spending 3 years in America Samoa. At one point she worked 36 hours straight after a major airplane crash in Samoa.
Virginia lived most of her life in Omaha, NE working at Clarkson Hospital until she retired in 1988. Virginia moved to Superior, NE in 2017 due to failing health.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters: MaryHelen Gadeken of Spokane, WA; Ila League of Stratton, NE and niece Kathy League and sister Lila Manley of AZ; brothers: Walter Blecha of Benkelman, NE and niece Cindy (Blecha) Fries and Dale Blecha (Jean) of Haigler, NE.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews: Gary League of Ebert, CO and Denis League of Stratton, NE. Alan Blecha of Imperial, NE and Larry Blecha of Crestline, CA; Timothy Blecha of Superior, NE; Mike Blecha of Kearney, NE; and Jerry Blecha of York, NE; Terry (Blecha) Yost of Imperial, NE, Arcell Kettle, Kristen Davis, Dayna Gadeken from Spokane, WA; Bryan Gadeken of Sammamish, WA; Martin Manley from Romona, CA; Sharla Manley of Fairfax, IA other relatives and a host of friends.
Virginia has generously donated her body to science. Virginia wished to have no services or memorial. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com. Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
