Wilbur Sindt Obituary

Wilbur James Sindt, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in Clarksville, Arkansas.   He was born December 16, 1929, at Naponee, Nebraska, to Will and Thyra Robinson Sindt.

He graduated from Franklin High School, in Franklin, Nebraska.  He went to Doane College, in Doane, Nebraska and the University of Nebraska, in Lincoln, Nebraska, obtaining his degree in Civil Engineering.  He rejoined the Army serving in the Korean War as an Army X-ray Technician in the 121st (MASH) Evac Hospital, in Panmunjom, Korea and was a recipient of two Bronze Stars.  He worked the home farm, south of Franklin, Nebraska from 1954 to 1991.  He did custom silage cutting for many years while in Nebraska. He worked in trucking for Troy Sims Trucking and engineering at Janssen Engineering in Russellville, Arkansas, area until his retirement. Wilbur was on the Franklin School board for over 12 years.  Wilbur and his wife, Gloria, were members of Bakers Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed the Russellville Seniors Center. 

Wilbur Sindt was a great family man and loving father.  He married Gloria Maxine Milder at San Antonio, Texas on August 19, 1952.  They were happily married until Gloria’s passing July 28, 2017. The couple had five children, including one child, Patricia Ann Sindt, who died in childbirth, December 28, 1957.

Survivors include his brother, Ralph Sindt; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Eddie Whitbey and Debra and Dennis Walton, all of London, Arkansas; his sons and daughters-in-law, William and Sherry Sindt of Glasgow, Kentucky and Curt and Sheryl Sindt of Vallejo, California; his grandchildren, April Toler of London, Arkansas, Chad Whitbey of Gumlog, Arkansas, Candace Fondren of London, Arkansas, Jackie Bueno of Portage, Michigan, Cassidy Sindt of Fairfield, California and Jessica Sindt of Glasgow, Kentucky; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin, Nebraska officiated by the Rev. Bill Sterns and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville, Arkansas.
